The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.
— Barack Obama
As with everyone, we have been wondering how we can help those on the front line helping all of us right now. So we did just what Mr. Obama said. We got up and did something and really HOPE to continue to do more of the same thing. What are we good at?…designing flowers. What do flowers do for people?…make them smile. So we took some flowers, put them in vases, sterilized everything carefully, wore masks and gloves and delivered them to a hospital where Jesse’s friend is a nurse.
This has been especially close to Jesse’s heart as his sister is a nurse and has been directly on the front line working with COVID-19 patients. This was scary enough, but then she started exhibiting symptoms and ended up getting diagnosed and hospitalized. She has thankfully recovered fully, but it certainly was very stressful and scary for Jesse and his family.
After getting “challenged” in our industry to create a beautiful table setting with everything you have inside or outside your home, Jesse of course went all out and set the most gorgeous Easter table around. He decided he wanted to take all the flowers (and there were a lot of them), make them into smaller bouquets and deliver them to a hospital where his friend is a nurse. He delivered 30 cheerful arrangements of yellow tulips and bright purple iris to his friend outside the hospital. We received the most amazing pictures of smiling healthcare worker faces (under their masks) after receiving #alittleburstofbliss - We are still smiling ear-to-ear!!!
If we can bring a tiny bit of hope and comfort to those putting their lives at risk for us, and make them know they are not alone, we have done a little something. We hope to deliver more of these little bursts of bliss to other hospitals and essential businesses who need a smile and ray of sunshine right now. XO
